Why Brand Strategy Should Come Before Your Logo

La scène créative est en constante évolution. De la typographie audacieuse aux expériences 3D immersives, nous analysons les tendances de conception que les agences pionnières utilisent pour attirer l'attention et obtenir des résultats en 2025.

When a business decides it needs "branding," the instinct is almost always to ask for a logo. A logo is the easiest part of branding to visualize, which is exactly why it's tempting to start there — and exactly why starting there usually produces a weaker result.

A logo is an output, not a starting point

A logo is a visual expression of decisions that should already be made: who you're for, what you do differently from the alternative, and how you want to be perceived. Design a logo before those decisions exist, and you're asking a designer to guess at strategy through a visual mark — which is backwards, and expensive to undo once the logo is already on business cards and a website.

What actually comes first

Positioning: a clear, specific answer to who you serve and why they'd choose you. Messaging: how that positioning gets said out loud, consistently, whether it's on your homepage or in a sales call. Only once those are settled does visual identity — logo, color, typography — have something real to express.

The practical benefit

Get positioning and messaging right first, and the visual identity phase moves faster and produces fewer rounds of revisions, because there's a clear standard to design against instead of subjective taste being the only filter.
